CZW is Forced to Postpone Junkyard Event
Combat Zone Wrestling had to postpone its first deathmatch-focused event of 2023 after the police got involved. “CZW: DisasterPiece – Twisted Metal” was set to take place on Saturday, August 5th at a junkyard in New Jersey. Just one day before the scheduled date, CZW issued a statement on X announcing that the event would be postponed indefinitely.
The company states that it got a call from Deptford County the afternoon before the event, and authorities told them that someone contacted police citing a New Jersey administrative code about “extreme wrestling”. CZW clarifies in the statement that it worked with the State of New Jersey specifically for this event and was given the all clear. The company also says it got approval from the State Athletic Commission. However, CZW says it was told that police would shut the event down if they proceeded with it, and the company would be fined $20,000.
CZW notes that it has reached out to the owner of the junkyard, who says she also received two similar phone calls.
In the statement, CZW says it is extremely disappointed in what happened and would also like to apologize to its fans.
“We are always brainstorming different ways to create an unforgettable experience, and we will continue to work hard to do so…” the statement goes on to say.
There is no word on when “CZW: DisasterPiece – Twisted Metal” will be held. All tickets for the events will be refunded if requested to do so on EventBright. Fans can also use them instead for the August 6th show “Limelight 19” in Harve de Grace, Maryland.
