First United States Tournament Win for Big F’N Joe
After being postponed, after tournament competitors being unable to attend, after juggling the brackets and after even more rain, Tournament of Death 20 took place on October 7th which much success. For the first time in TOD’s history the tournament only featured two rounds. Four 1 on 1 first round matches and one 4-Way finals. All five matches delivered on the ultraviolence but when it was all said and done only one winner could be crowned and that winner would be the a man who has put together quite the year, Big F’N Joe. Joe won TNT’s DOA 2023 Deathmatch Tournament back in March. Now he leaves the United States headed back home to England with the Tournament of Death trophy. This marks the first deathmatch tournament win inside the United States for Joe and most likely not his last.
Even after a juggling of the card Big F’N Joe kept his first round opponent Judge Joe Dred. This was a highly anticipated rematch from their match in XPW back in June where Big F’N Joe won via referee stoppage. This time around their contest would be a Pits of Hell Match. In what ended up being the longest match of the tournament Dred was basically in a body bag with Joe beating on him with a steel chair until he wasn’t moving anymore. Just like their first encounter the ref stepped in calling the match giving Big F’N Joe a first round victory. Then we had one of the better Tournament of Death Finals in quite a while. Joe went through last years winner Bobby Beverly, SHLAK & Mickie Knuckles to get to the trophy. As heartbreaking as it was to see Mickie Knuckles lose in back to back TOD finals you couldn’t help but be happy for Joe who has consistently put his body through hell this year in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
